How to play Minefield

Somewhere under the purple squares are hidden mines. Open every square that isn't a mine to win.

• Tap or click a square to dig it. Your first dig is always safe and usually opens up an area.
• A number tells you how many mines touch that square, including diagonally.
• Flag a square you know is a mine: right-click it, long-press it on a phone, or switch to Flag mode with the button above the board.
• Tap a number whose mines are all flagged to open every other square around it in one go.

Tips

• If a 1 touches only one closed square, that square is a mine.
• If a number already has all its mines flagged, every other square around it is safe.
• Look at pairs of neighbouring numbers: comparing what they share often reveals a safe square.
• Sometimes the clues run out and you have to guess. Try the corners and edges of open areas first.

Choose Easy (9×9, 10 mines), Medium (16×16, 40 mines) or Hard (16×30, 99 mines). Your best time for each size is saved on your device.
